Methods
Different ways of working with the horse
Every horse is different. They have different personalities, experiences, strengths and challenges, so we don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.
A method is a way of working with the horse, not something you book. I choose from the methods below according to what is useful for the horse in front of me, and most lessons draw on more than one.
The aim is not to use as many exercises as possible. The aim is to help the horse understand, develop and enjoy the work.
Ways of working
Groundwork
Learning, communicating and moving together
Communication, balance and confidence developed from the ground, without the added challenge of carrying a rider.
Classical dressage
Developing balance, communication and understanding
Strength, balance and suppleness built step by step, so the work becomes easier for the horse.
Liberty
Communication without a rope or a rein
Communication without a rope or rein, where the horse chooses to stay in the conversation.
Trick training
Learning through curiosity and creativity
Confidence, concentration and body awareness, built through curiosity rather than repetition.
Jumping
Building confidence, balance and a positive attitude
Rhythm, balance and confidence over a fence, where the height is never the point.
Bitted work
Contact the horse can understand
How the horse learns to understand contact, and how you learn to use your hands softly and clearly.
